An Interview with the Hubby

The other day, I stumbled on A Beautiful Little Adventure‘s interview with her husband, and I thought it was such a cute idea that I just had to do one with my hubby!

my hubby and my brother-in-law have a weird bromance

Me: What is the name of my blog?
Jeff: Simply Sophisticated Blog

Me: What do I typically write about?
Jeff: Umm… you usually do Five Friday post and you talk about Hashimoto’s and health stuff and your general opinion on things. {well that was good summary}

Me: What’s a popular fashion item for women right now?
Jeff: Shoes. {and then proceeds to literally laugh out loud}

Me: Why do women go to the bathroom together?
Jeff: I don’t know but when I was in middle school my friends called it the CBC “community bathroom club” and whenever we would see a group of girls going to the bathroom, we’d say “Oh there’s a CBC.”

Me: What do you know about Pinterest?
Jeff: It has ideas for everything in the world and people pin the things that they like.

Me: What is Hunter Wellie?
Jeff: A what??? I don’t know.

Me: What is our favorite thing to do together?
Jeff: Not clean. {omg this made me laugh out loud} We like the traditional dinner and movie date. We also like binge-watching shows together.

Me: What is the Pantone color of the year?
Jeff: Black.

Me: If you could have any job what would it be?
Jeff: I’d get paid to beta-test video games all day. {yes, my husband is a nerd}

Me: What about me?
Jeff: Stay-at-home wife with kids. called it! {let’s make that happen… SOON ;-) }

Me: What’s the best place to shop for women?
Jeff: LOFT {good boy}

Me: What does YOLO stand for?
Jeff: You only live once.

Me: What About OOTD?
Jeff: {quizzical look on his face} I don’t know. {When I told him what it stood for, he goes “oh shoot I did know that!”}

Me: What do I do when I’m home alone?
Jeff: Sit on the couch, blog, and watch Netflix or Hulu, and Facebook stalk.

Me: What is my favorite activity?
Jeff: See the previous answer.

Me: What do women keep in their purse?
Jeff: Everything. It’s like an extra-dimensional portal.

Me: And what do you do when you’re home alone?
Jeff: Play computer games, and watch TV shows, and think about you… {he’s such a suck-up}

Me: What’s my favorite accessory?
Jeff: It better be your Michael Kors watch {he bought it for me last year} but it’s probably your new Kate Spade watch {outlet shopping FTW}. Actually, it should be your wedding rings.

Me: What celebrity would you let me have a free pass with?
Jeff: None. You chose to marry me. Sorry.

Me: What celebrity would you like to have a free pass with?
Jeff: The author of the Simply Sophisticated Blog. I hear she’s pretty hot. {I cannot make this stuff up, I swear}

Me: What’s an acceptable amount to spend on a makeup item?
Jeff: $5. Realistically, $40, because makeup is ridiculously over-priced and a huge waste of money.

Me: What’s an acceptable amount to spend on a dress?
Jeff: $5. Hahaha realistically, $75. {I like this amount}

Me: What is your favorite trait about me, not physical?
Jeff: {he laughed when I asked him this… not sure how I feel about that} Uhh… your wit. You make me laugh.

Me: What’s my favorite TV show?
Jeff: Gilmore Girls.

Me: Who is a current celebrity “it” couple?
Jeff: I don’t know. Brangelina?!? {oh my gosh I laughed so hard}

Me: Anything else you’d like to say?
Jeff: Nope.

This was really fun to do! I laughed a LOT! If you decide to do onewith your husband, make sure to link it in the comments.  I’d love to read it!

High Five for Friday!

Wow! What a week!  I’m linking up with Lauren for H54F! So, where to start?!?

1.  It was my husband’s birthday on Wednesday! I posted about it here. We have basically been celebrating all week!  We went to dinner Saturday night with his family, went to Raleigh on Wednesday and had dinner with our best friends, had dinner with my family on Thursday, and then we are having our date night to celebrate on Saturday night. So much for the diet…

2.  I picked these up at Anthropologie while we were in Raleigh.  I’ve never bought anything in there before (it’s a little out of my budget) but I thought these were really cute!  And then I managed to drop the yellow one when we got home and it completely shattered. :(944130_10100406382438536_1480017901_n

3.  Our passports came!!! We are going on a cruise in September to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary, so we finally had a reason to get these.  I hope this gives us more incentive to do more traveling now!

4.  I had a yard sale on Saturday, and it went REALLY well!  We sold a bunch of stuff, and the things that were left at the end of the day went straight to Goodwill.  It feels so freeing to have all that junk out of our house.

Sorry that this picture hasn’t been “Instagramed” lol

5.  On Sundays, we almost always go out to lunch after church with some friends.  We are one of the few couples in our Life Group class that don’t have kids yet, so we have a lot of fun entertaining our friends’ kids so they can enjoy their lunch.  This little girl is absolutely hilarious.  She was looking at herself in the front-facing camera on my phone when she grabbed my sunglasses, put them on, then made the “duck lips” pose.  I managed to reach over and click the button in time to snap this picture of her.  Every time I see it, I start laughing.  I really hope my kids are this cute (one day).

How has your week been?!

26 Reasons

Today is my husband’s 26th birthday!  In honor of his special day, I thought I would share 26 things I love about him (and a few photos too).

  1. I love his laugh.  It’s infectious.
  2. I love that I was his first kiss.

  3. I love that he is tall.  I’m 5’2″ and he’s 6’2.”  When he wraps his arms around me, I feel completely enveloped and safe.

  4. I love that he is a nerd.  He’d rather play video games or watch Monty Python than watch football any day.
  5. I love that he is handy.  He might be nerdy, but he’s also pretty handy with a hammer.  He made this coffee table a few months ago:
  6. I love that he has a heart for teenagers.  We are both leaders in the youth group at our church, but he is definitely the re was the reason we are involved.
  7. I love his calmness.  I tend to be very “fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants” and make rash, emotional decisions.  He is much more calm and thoughtful before making decisions.
  8. I love it when he dances in the car and doesn’t care who sees.
  9. I love his glasses (I might be a nerd at heart too lol).

  10. I love that he doesn’t check out other girls (seriously, he doesn’t).  Definitely helps me in the self-esteem department!
  11. I love that he is really good with kids.  I can’t wait to have kids with him one day because he will be a great father!
  12. I love that he has held true to our vows, especially the part that says “for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health.”  I will probably touch on this more at a later time, but we’ve already been through some major financial struggles in our 5 years of marriage, and I have also had some health struggles, yet he’s stuck with me through it all.

  13. I love that he is a morning person.  I am definitely not, but he’s starting to show me some of the benefits of becoming an early riser.
  14. I love his curly hair.  I sure hope our kids get that from him.
  15. I love how much he values his family.
  16. I love his smile.
  17. I love that he kisses me goodbye every morning before he leaves to work, even if I am not awake.

  18. I love how patient he is.  I can be quite a handful, especially since I have a little bit of a temper, but he is patient with me through all my crazy moods.
  19. I love that he calls me beautiful, even when it’s first thing in the morning and I have no makeup on, my hair is a mess, and I’ve got morning breath.
  20. I love his legs.  He has strong muscular legs— not tiny, scrawny legs like most guys.  (Is that too much info???)
  21. I love his fear of heights and roller coasters.  It’s very entertaing to get him scream like a little girl if I can actually convince him to get on one.

    Due to his fear of heights, he wouldn't take a picture with me sitting on the wall. I couldn't stop laughing.

  22. I love that he’ll watch Gilmore Girls with me… over and over and over…
  23. I love cuddling on the couch, watching movies, and just hanging out with each other.

  24. I love that he can cook.  He looks sexy in an apron.
  25. I love that he is a country boy at heart.  His dream is to have a bunch of land so he can have chickens and grow his own food.  Hopefully we’ll make that dream come true one day.
  26. I love that he is my husband. Plain and simple.
