Pattern Mixing

Here in the Port City, the weather just can’t seem to make up it’s mind.  One day it is sunny and 65 degrees, and the next day it’s in the 40s and raining.  I am so ready to put the winter clothes away and pull out the spring attire, but until I can fully switch out my closet, I am trying to get creative with layers.

I love this vest.  I picked it up at LOFT at the beginning of November and I could seriously wear it every day.  I mean, how much better can you get than gray and polka dots?!

I paired it with this navy and white striped shirt.  It took me a long time to be okay with mixing patterns.  I still play it safe with sticking with neutral colors like navy and gray.

The jeans are from LOFT as well.  Yes, I’m basically a walking billboard for that store.  I have yet to find another place that the sizes and cuts fit me so well.  These are their “Modern Straight” cut jeans.  I love this cut because they look almost like skinny jeans without being super tight around the ankle {I don’t know why but I hate feeling like my ankles are being squeezed}.

Another good thing about this outfit is that I can easily transition it as the weather warms up.  I can switch to flats instead of boots and even do a short sleeved top with the vest.
