5 Years
Today is my 5th Anniversary. I’ve been MARRIED for FIVE years… whoa! I honestly can’t believe it in some ways. Mainly because it just doesn’t feel like we’ve been married that long. These last five years have flown by. It really feels like it was just yesterday that I was walking down the aisle to say my vows to the man I was going to spend my life with.

My dad made our wedding cake and I am so glad the photographer got this pic. I will always treasure it.
When I said the words, “”I, Sophi, take thee, Jeff, to be my wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.” I had no idea just how encompassing those words would be. We have definitely had better times and worse times. We have been broke enough that we wouldn’t go anywhere all weekend because we couldn’t put gas in our car. We have dealt with health issues, as I talked about here. We haven’t always loved and cherished each other like we should, but we persevered through it all. We’ve learned more and more what love really is.
Sometimes I miss the “newness” of the beginning of a relationship. You know, where you are scared to hold hands at first, then you finally do for the first time. The first date. The first kiss. BUT I wouldn’t trade what we have for anything. I am incredibly blessed to have found my husband. He is the complete opposite of me in every way, and I love that. He has shown me how to enjoy the small things, how to think things through instead of making a rash decision as I am very prone to do, how to be a true friend, how to be myself and not care about what others think. I’ve shown him how to talk to just about anyone, how to be spontaneous, and how to dress. Important values, I know…

We love to torture my brother. We did this same pose at my sister’s wedding too. I hope we also do it when my brother finally gets married so we have a shot at each wedding.

Holding up my dress so that the fan on the floor can cool me off… still not sure why we thought an outdoor wedding in August was a good idea. It was HOT!!! This picture makes me laugh though!
Even as I reminisce on these last 5 years, I can’t help but get excited about what the next 5 years hold for us!
Happy 5th anniversary, Jeff! I love you more than you know!
