Friday Funday

I am SO glad this week is over! It has been so crazy busy at work. Technology is awesome until it breaks down. So I’m starting off my Friday list with the perfect IT Crowd gif:

one // I seriously can’t even tell you the amount of times I’ve said that ^^^ in the last couple of weeks.

two // I’m so ready for Fall! We had a couple of days that were teasers of cooler weather, and now all I want to do is get out my boots and sweaters.  I’m tired of sweating!

three // speaking of Fall, I plan to pull out all my fall decorations this weekend.  Don’t judge.

four // I’m hoping to drive down to the outlets in MB one day this weekend and some shopping.  I really want to find a fall/winter purse.  Maybe something like this?

five //  My father-in-law had to be admitted into the hospital this week due to getting MRSA in his hand.  I’m glad to say he is doing well and should be getting released tomorrow.  I think he’s hated it more than any of us— he is not one to be still and confined for very long.  Things like that just remind me how lucky I am that overall, my family is happy and healthy.

Do you have any fun plans for the Labor Day weekend?

Younique 3D Lashes Review [and a Giveaway!]

When my friend Kate reached out to me a couple of weeks ago and asked if I would be interested in trying the Younique Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes, I didn’t hesistate to say yes!

I have been hearing about this mascara [I use the term “mascara” lightly because it really isn’t a mascara at all] but I thought it wouldn’t be that much different from my Benefit They’re Real! mascara. I mean, that stuff is pretty awesome, there’s no way anything else could beat it.

Or so I thought!

The Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes was incredible! They made my lashes look so long and full. I’ve even been asked if I had false lashes on!

However, I had one qualm with the 3D Lashes: the price. If I’m going to invest the $29 on the 3D Lashes, I’m not going to continue spending $23 on my Benefit mascara. That’s just reality of my bank account haha!

But, that’s the great thing about the Moonstruck 3D Lashes. It is designed to be used with whatever mascara you like.

First, you apply a coat of whatever mascara you choose. Then you apply a layer of the Moonstruck Transplanting Gel, followed immediately by a layer of Moonstruck Natural Fibers, and then another layer of the Transplanting Gel to “set” the fibers. You can repeat the coats of gel and fibers as much as you want to get your desired length and thickness.

So knowing I could use it with with whatever mascara I wanted, I picked up a tube of Maybelline Great Lash mascara so I could compare how the Moonstruck 3D Lashes did with both a prestige-brand mascara [the Benefit mascara] and a drugstore mascara.

I was excited to discover that the Moonstruck 3D Lashes did BETTER with the Maybelline mascara than the Benefit one!

For some reason, they wanted to clump more when used with the Benefit mascara.  But lthat was fine with me, because I like I said, I don’t want to spend a bunch of money on mascara on top of the price of the Younique 3D Lashes.

But if you’re like me, you need more than words on a screen.  You need physical proof.  So here ya go!

***I received a free Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes in exchange for a review of the product.  However, all opinions are my own.  I would never promote something I didn’t end up liking, I promise!

A Flare Affair

Wen I saw that the flare leg was coming back into style, I almost jumped with joy!

I have been waiting for this trend to come back for nearly 10 years.

When I was a pre-teen/young teenager, the flare and bell-bottom pants were in style.

But I never got to full enjoy this trend because my mom wouldn’t let me wear them. She thought the jeans were cut too tight and she didn’t like the “low-rise” waist [at least that is what she told me. Looking back, I think she was just in denial that her first-born had hit puberty and was getting curves. Poor Mama…]. And since mom was the one that did all the buying of my clothes and drove me everywhere, I pretty much had no choice in the matter.

By the time I had my first job at 16 and my license, this trend was on it’s way out. Boot-cut was in, but no more flare legs. Then came the skinny jeans trend, which has really stayed around for quite some time if you think about it.

FINALLY however, I have my chance to enjoy flare leg jeans! And I wasted no time in purchasing this pair from LOFT. They were having a sale for $20 off all jeans and pants this weekend, so it was a done deal for me.

And they are oh-so-comfy! They may be my new favorite pair of jeans.

I am just itchin’ for an opportunity to wear them. I’m guessing they wouldn’t be appropriate for an upcoming engagement party, now would they? No? I didn’t think so.

What fall trend are you looking forward to the most?
