Eyeliner + Body Balm

Sorry about the little hiatus.  Actually, I’m not that sorry.  Now don’t take that the wrong way. At first I felt pretty guilty— I’ve been trying so hard to post regularly, have set days for certain topics, etc. because that’s what I’ve been told I need to do to grow this blog.  And yes, I do want this blog to grow.  I love meeting new people through this little space. But I had forgotten that this is MY little space, where I can do what I want, say what I want to say, and just be me. So I stopped feeling so guilty and enjoyed my little break.

But I’m getting back into the swing of things by sharing two of my new favorite beauty items!

I recieved a sample of the Benefit They’re Real! Push-up Liner in the mail a couple of weeks (thank you, Ulta!) and I have been using it every day since! It goes on almost as easily as my gel liner I had been using, but has the definition of liquid liner.  It also lasts ALL day– no fading or wearing off.  The only negative I can say is I haven’t quite figured out how many clicks to do to get just enough liner to do both eyes like they recommend on the instructions (I usually have to do another couple of clicks to get enough liner for the second eye).  The liner is going to be available on Friday (6/27) so go pick it up!

I picked this up on a whim at Ulta a couple of weeks ago after seeing it in their weekly ad.   Unfortunately, it looks like I’ve inherited a proneness to spider veins (oh joy) and though they aren’t horrible yet, I am self-conscious about them and wanted to cover them up especially when wearing shorts or a skirt. The  Urban Decay Naked Skin Body Beauty Balm does the trick! It’s not super thick coverage or anything, it just provides a nice glow and shimmer that makes the imperfections a little less noticeable.  I don’t use it every day, just on special occasions, but I really like it.

So those are my two new faves!  Have you tried either of these?

My New Man

I have new guy in my life.

He’s got some special abilities.  He’s also got a cool scar on his forehead.

His name is Potter… Harry Potter

I mentioned a week or so ago that I had started reading the Harry Potter series. I am not sure why it took me so long to read this series, but I finally am doing it. Thankfully, other than a few clips here and there, I’ve never seen the movies either, so I am coming to this series relatively “clean.”

Every spare second I have had, I pick up my book and read. In the car (if I am not driving!), waiting in line at a restaurant, hanging out at a cookout… I even told Jeff I’d rather stay in on Friday night than go out on a date so I could read.  I feel very much like Rory right now.

I’m about to start book #5 (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) after writing this post. So if you notice a lack of posts this week, please forgive me. I’ve got my nose stuck in a book.  Also, be prepared for some major “post-series grieving.”

This was Friday night— I finished book 3 and read book 4 this weekend

Five on Friday

Happy Friday the 13th!  If you are superstitious… well… don’t be!

And Happy 28th Birthday to the Olsen twins!

Don’t judge me for knowing this! It’s easy for me to remember because they are exactly 6 months older than I am [my birthday is Dec. 13].  Oh geez, this means there is only 6 months until I turn 28… not cool…

Anywho, it’s been a fun week, so let’s recap!

<< ONE >> I saw this on Instagram this week and of course had to re-post! It describes me perfectly! If only I could get paid to shop..

photo1 << TWO >> My friend, Hayley, is getting married next month.  My sister and I went to a bridal shower in her honor.  The guy she is marrying was like a little brother to us growing up [he and my actual brother seemed inseparable for a while].  It doesn’t seem possible that they are old enough to get married, but I am so excited for them!  Oh, and I totally took the pictures for this post then went to her shower in the same outfit… ain’t nobody got time to change!

photo2 << THREE >> I have a couple of new favorite products which I will be sharing about next week!  A sample of the They’re Real! Push-up Liner came in the mail and I cannot wait to get my hands on a full-size tube! This stuff is a game changer for me!

photo3 << FOUR >> I spent some time working at my mother-in-law’s florist taking some pictures of bouquets and other products, as well as helping her with some social media-related things.  This was really fun and I hoping I can possibly work with some other local businesses in the future.

photo4 << FIVE >> My phone was hacked… by three crazy boys {the one on the right is my hubby}…

photo5  What have you been up to this week? Do you have any fun plans for Father’s Day this weekend?

P.S.  I’m kind of obsessed with Instagram, so you should totally follow me! And if you do, leave me a comment with your username and I will follow you back!
